Monthly Assembly with the Honourable Prime Minister – May 2025

Putrajaya, 29 May 2025 – The Monthly Assembly with the Honourable Prime Minister and the Staff of the Prime Minister’s Department for May 2025 was successfully held on 29 May 2025 at Dewan De’ Seri Endon, Puspanitapuri, Putrajaya.

The event was also attended by the Director-General, senior management officers, and all members of the Protection Division.

The Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the 46th ASEAN Summit, and extended his gratitude to all personnel, civil servants, private sector representatives, and hotel staff for their outstanding commitment and cooperation.

He also commended the spirit of teamwork, professionalism, and meticulous preparation demonstrated by all parties, which elevated Malaysia's reputation on the global stage.

In conjunction with the month of Zulhijjah, the Prime Minister called upon all public servants to emulate the values of sincerity, patience, and integrity as exemplified in the pilgrimage (Hajj) rituals.

 


 
Advanced First Aid & CPR Course Series 1/2025

The Protection Division, Prime Minister’s Department, in collaboration with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, successfully organized the Advanced First Aid & CPR Course Series 1/2025 at the Malaysian Red Crescent Training Institute, Kuala Lumpur.

This intensive three-day course (20–22 May 2025) was attended by 23 participants from the Protection Division. The course went beyond theory — participants were given hands-on experience in handling emergency situations through practical activities, demonstrations, and simulation exercises.

Topics covered included:

  • Emergency care for wounds, burns, and fractures
  • Head, spinal, chest & abdominal injuries
  • Sudden illnesses, poisoning, stings
  • Proper rescue and casualty transfer techniques
  • Practical and written assessments as course conclusion

This course has produced participants who are more alert, competent, and ready to act in critical situations.

Congratulations and thank you to all 23 participants for their outstanding commitment throughout the course.

May the knowledge gained serve as a valuable tool in saving lives and serving the community!

 


WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAMME SEMINAR NO. 1/2025 – PENANG STATE LEVEL

 

GEORGE TOWN, PENANG | 7 May 2025 – The Witness Protection Programme Seminar No. 1/2025, organised by the Protection Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BPJPM), was officially officiated this morning by YDH CP Datuk Hamzah bin Hj. Ahmad, Chief Police Officer of Penang, at G Hotel Gurney, George Town.

This seminar was held with the objective of enhancing awareness and understanding of the Witness Protection Act 2009 [Act 696] and the Witness Protection Programme among enforcement agencies operating in the state of Penang.

The Witness Protection Act 2009 [Act 696] is the sole legislation that provides for a structured programme to safeguard witnesses from threats and intimidation, particularly in serious and organised crime cases, as well as those involving public interest.

Under Act 696, the Protection Division (BPJPM) is entrusted with the responsibility of delivering comprehensive and reasonable protection and assistance to participants of the programme. This is in line with BPJPM’s core principle of maintaining uncompromising security standards and its motto: “Witness Protection – The Pillar of the National Justice System.”

The seminar featured several key presentations. Paper 1, titled “Protection of Witness Safety and Welfare from the Perspective of the Witness Protection Act 2009 [Act 696],” was presented by YBrs. Tuan Khairul Anwar bin Zakaria @ Abdul Hamid, Director-General of BPJPM.

This was followed by the presentation of Papers 2 and 3 by YBrs. Puan Nur Hidayah Raihan binti Md. Nasir, Registrar of BPJPM. These sessions focused on investigative procedures for evaluating witness eligibility for the programme, and the effectiveness of witness protection in ensuring witness safety throughout court proceedings.

The seminar drew the participation of 250 officers from various enforcement agencies in Penang, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), and the Penang State Immigration Department (JIM).

 

 


2024 EXCELLENT SERVICE AWARD AND 2025 “JASA MU DIKENANG” APPRECIATION CEREMONY FOR THE CLUSTER OF LAW AND INSTITUTIONAL REFORM (URI) (2)

On 20 May 2025, at the Marriott Hotel, Putrajaya, YBhg. Dato’ Sri Azalina Othman Said officiated the 2025 Appreciation Ceremony of the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM), which included the presentation of the Excellent Service Award (APC) and the “Jasamu Dikenang” Award (AJD) to a total of 188 recipients.

A total of 157 recipients were honoured with the Excellent Service Award (APC), and 31 retirees were celebrated. The recipients comprised personnel from the Legal Affairs Division (BHEUU), Legal Aid Department (JBG), Malaysia Department of Insolvency (MDI), Protection Division (BP), Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), National Legal Academy (APN), Advisory Board (LP), as well as two administrative officers from the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).

The ceremony also paid tribute to 31 JPM retirees who have retired or are due to retire in 2025, in recognition of their dedicated service and contributions to the nation over the years. Among the honourees were six recipients of the 2024 APC and one AJD recipient from the Protection Division, JPM.

This year’s “Jasamu Dikenang” Award recipient is DSP Anuar bin Md Azali @ Md Ghazali, Deputy Director of Operations 1, Operations Branch. He began his career as an Inspector at the Police Training Centre, Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, on 1 November 2002. DSP Anuar previously served as the Head of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters, Pahang. He joined the Protection Division of the Prime Minister’s Department on 16 June 2022. After three years of exemplary service, he opted for early retirement on 31 March 2025.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the organising committee, as well as all departments and agencies for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring the success of this event.
